Where to visit on Long Island during the Pandemic By: Brandon Gidicsin, Commerical Real Estate Broker, Liincs Thought Leader

Hello everyone! My name is Brandon Gidicsin. I am pleased to be apart of the Liincs organization. My line of work is commercial real estate sales. However, I love to travel in my free time. With that said, my area of focus regarding the Liincs organization is: Long Island tourism and leisure.

Long island is huge. In fact nearly 3 million people call this place (Nassau and Suffolk County) home. We also have 95 villages, and a length of 118 miles from the East River to Montauk Point! Needless to say there are indeed quite a bit of activities one can do on this massive island.

Also, as a quick note. The Covid pandemic has hit Long Island. That does not mean we cannot enjoy what this place has to offer!

Food: From my perspective, I have seen many more people cooking from home during the Covid pandemic. That is GREAT! (I actually make a great lasagna myself). However, there are numerous restaurants still open which offer take out and delivery. Here are a few of favorites of mine:

– Pantanos: Uniondale (Deli)

– Mulberry Street: Babylon (Italian Restaurant)

– May King: Oceanside (Chinese Restaurant)

– Rust and Gold: Huntington (Sports Bar)

Granted there are many more, but these are a few that stand out the most to me!

Parks: Did you know that Eisenhower Park in East Meadow is 930 acres! Compare that to Central Park which is 840 acres. Yes, Eisenhower is 90 acres larger!

Here are a few parks that are great for a walk, hike, round of golf or maybe even yoga:

(*star indicates no golf available at park)

– Eisenhower Park: East Meadow

– Bethpage State Park: Bethpage

– *Belmont Lake State Park: North Babylon

– *Cold Spring Harbor State Park: Cold Spring Harbor

Drive-in movies: Remember back in the good old days when drive in movies were a thing? Well I do not. I am 24! However, now will be a great opportunity for many other young people and all age groups for that matter to check out a drive-in movie! Rincon Criollo is a restaurant in Huntington. They offer drive-in movies Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! (Call Rincon Criollo for reservation).

Roadtrip: We have something unique to offer. Whether you head to the Montauk lighthouse, take a trip down on Dune Road in the Hamptons, Ocean Parkway or a scenic drive through the lush green oasis on the winding roads of the North Shore. Long island has something beautiful to see regardless of where you are. Remember, it is not about the destination. It’s the journey!

What are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy this island! Even though the circumstances are not ideal, that should not stop you!
